RPM72 Recordings (formerly rpm entertainment or rpm-ent) is a music production company headed by Richard Maloney. Based in South Florida, our work is not limited to one area or studio. We’ve worked in all types of settings, from large recording studios in Miami and New Orleans to more intimate professional studios in Ft. Lauderdale and Naples in Florida, and Baton Rouge in Louisiana.
We record real musicians. Our client list includes:
The Mike Dillon Band, a jazz-punk band out of New Orleans, LA; SOWFLO, a reggae rock band out of Naples, FL; and Ovrhol, a rock band based in Miami, FL. These bands are generally on the road and can be seen playing well-known events, such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and South by Southwest, as well as some of the most beloved live music venues around the country. The Mike Dillon Band’s album, Band of Outsiders was named one of the top 50 albums of 2014 by Offbeat Magazine. In 2016, Gambit named The Mike Dillon Band “Best Punk Band of the Year” and Mike Dillon received the honor of “Best Male Performer of the Year.”
We want to help you make the right first impression. Your recording is often your first impression and you only get one chance to make it. We can produce professional recordings from anywhere in the U.S. for any budget. We’ll bring the studio to you or work out of any professional recording studio. Call or email us to start a discussion about what you’re looking for and how we can make it work for you.
From banging on pots in the street to getting his first drum set at age 6, Richard was practically born with the beat. After cutting two albums in professional studios in Baton Rouge and Los Angeles, and touring across the country with his bands Section 8 and Kinetic Output, Richard decided to focus on the engineering that goes into making albums sound amazing. He completed courses at SAE Miami, a world-class audio engineering school, and immediately went to work at Studio Center Miami where he received hands-on training from some of the most experienced studio engineers in the country. He is always looking for talented bands and artists that he can not only record and produce, but that give him hope for the future of music.
